ABOUT NICOLA

I'm Nicola, a trained Co-Active coach (Coaches Training Institute), avid tea-drinker, good food junkie and fitness geek.  I  work with mothers-to-be, new mothers and stuck mamas to help them build purposeful lives, created to honour what's important to them, and light them up every day.

In a previous life I built a successful career in PR , rising through the ranks to a top position in a renowned agency. I was good at it and I could have kept pushing, kept achieving.

But it wasn’t enough.

Already struggling with the lack of honesty and authenticity I encountered in the media world, I had my daughter and BOOM, I knew it wasn’t the life for me anymore. What’s more I didn’t know what life was for me. I was lost. Taking voluntary redundancy seemed liked a gift, an opportunity that would give me the finances to retrain and pursue a life that fitted my values.

But it wasn’t to be.

The need to support my family through some financial hardships meant I jumped back on the professional treadmill, setting up as a freelance PR consultant and sitting at a desk, earning money, my identity slipping further away by the day.  I was good at it. But I was miserable.

The knock on affect of my work misery was that I wasn't being the mother I wanted to be to my children.

I felt trapped. Stuck in a career that didn't fulfil me; robbed of the chance to change; sad about the mother I was being and unsure what to do next.  I couldn't get the basics right to start building the life that I wanted. It was like the misery monster robbed me of any motivation so that I slowed, slowed, slowed and then almost stopped. I knew what I needed to do to change but I couldn't get there.

And then things changed.

As Steve Jobs said, “you can’t connect the dots looking forward; you can only connect them looking backward” and I now know that every hurdle (of which there've been many) and set-back led me to where I am now.

I’ve lived through the unhappy career, I've lived through putting my family first, I’ve lived through creating a flexible working ‘compromise’, I’ve lived through feeling like I was stuck and there was NO way out.

And then I found it.

I’ve now created a life for myself that gives me joy, where I feel I have a purpose.

I spend my days helping my clients; mothering my children in a way that makes me proud, and realising dreams and goals that are so important to me.

And now I want to take that experience and offer it to women who felt like me.

You too can create change that transforms your life. You have the power. You have the answers. And I am here with my hand on your back, to listen, to share, to empower, helping you to create a life that doesn’t just get you unstuck, but lights you up.
